This long-term work program is designed for students who are completing (or have completed) hospitality/culinary studies and have relevant hospitality experience. Participants will be offered 6-, 9-, or 12-month positions with reputable Australian businesses and can expect to receive training within their field of study. Positions are available in food production (savory culinary arts – no baking or pastry positions available), food and beverage, housekeeping, or front office depending on experience and availability.

Internships are paid hourly positions. Interns will receive AUD$23.00 minimum (~US$15) and can expect to work at least 30 hours per week. Positions are available within leading hotels, resorts, and renowned restaurants throughout Australia. Participants must be flexible in regard to their internship placement and location.

During the internship program, students may be housed with host families or in student residences near their internship placement. AIW’s Australian partner can help organize housing, but housing and food costs are the student’s responsibility. In some cases, meals may be offered by the internship placement while students are on-duty. In remote areas, host company placements may offer housing.

Throughout the enrollment process and internship program, participants will receive support from an AIW coordinator and AIW’s Australian partner. AIW can provide visa assistance, however the associated visa costs are the participant’s responsibility. Participants will be offered regular monitoring and feedback. They will also be invited to monthly intern social gatherings during their programs and be issued a Certificate of Completion after successfully completing their programs and AIW final evaluation.
